Site Work
Watson Civil has substantial site work experience. Before any earthwork can commence, site work and preparation activities are conducted. This may involve clearing vegetation, removing existing structures, relocating utilities, and addressing any environmental considerations to prepare the site for construction. It can also include the installation of new underground utilities to include pressure pipe (water, reclaim, forcemain), gravity sewer, and storm drainage.
Erosion Control is also used to prevent soil erosion during and after construction, erosion control measures are implemented. These can include the installation of erosion control blankets, sediment barriers, or the establishment of vegetation to stabilize the soil and prevent runoff.
Proper drainage is crucial to prevent water accumulation on the construction site. Heavy civil site work involves the installation of drainage systems, including pipes, culverts, and ditches, to redirect and manage stormwater runoff.
Compaction is the process of mechanically compressing the soil or other fill materials to increase their density and load-bearing capacity. This is achieved using compaction equipment, such as vibratory rollers or compactors, to eliminate air voids and create a stable base for the construction. This is a vital part of roadway stabilization and base for roads, driveways and parking lots in prep for final asphalt, site development and landscaping.
